Paris Hilton has turned into a amateur sleuth, combing surveillance video and beating the bushes for clues to crack a $2 million jewel heist at her California mansion.

The millionaire hotel heiress and reality TV star says her investigation makes her think it was an inside job.

"I think whoever did this definitely has been there before," Hilton told E! News. "We have some suspects."

As cops probed that caper, Hilton's uncle Steven Hilton was recovering from a nerve-jangling confrontation with two burglars at his home.

Steven Hilton, a philanthropist, entered his Malibu, Calif., home Monday, interrupting the desperadoes.

"He got away and he called 911, and while he was calling 911, they got away," said Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Sgt. Janis Benning, adding that the burglars bolted empty-handed.

Like his niece, Steven Hilton suspects the thieves must have been casing his house.

"It would sound like somebody had to know it was his house to go there," said Barbara Casey, spokeswoman for the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. "You wouldn't just stumble on it."

A man in a hooded sweatshirt and gloves walked into Paris Hilton's Sherman Oaks mansion Friday, ransacking her bedroom and swiping her jewels from a hidden safe.

She said she'll let bygones be bygones if the burglars return her jewels. "They just have to anonymously have a taxi drop it off in my front gate in a box with my jewelry and everything," she said. "They won't get in trouble."

PARIS HILTON has hit the Pilates mat in a bid to shape up for her new fragrance ad campaign.
The socialite is getting ready to launch her latest scent, Fairy Dust, and she wants to look her best.
She says, "I didn’t have to lose weight, but I just wanted to look really good. I started doing Pilates.”
And, as for the name of her fifth fragrance, Hilton says, "I just love Tinkerbell and fairies, so I thought it would be really fun.”
Hilton has a pet Chihuahua named Tinkerbell, and in 2004 authorised a book in the dog's honour, dubbed the The Tinkerbell Hilton Diaries: My Life Tailing Paris Hilton.

Hotel heiress PARIS HILTON has vowed to curb her party lifestyle - because the celebrity social scene leaves her feeling "empty".
Hilton was once a regular at star-studded events, but she insists she has lost interest in the party circuit since she started dating rocker Benji Madden earlier this year (08).
And the 27-year-old is adamant that she has now left her wild lifestyle behind.
She tells British magazine Heat, "I don't want to go to clubs now. I was caught up in a lifestyle that seemed fun at the time, but ultimately left me feeling very empty."
And Hilton puts her reformed character down to her new love.
She adds, "My boyfriend is my best friend. I stay home a lot and just enjoy my time with Benji. I'm a different person today."

Actor ADRIEN GRENIER has rushed to the defence of paparazzi darling PARIS HILTON - contratulating her on her "ballsy" relationship with the media.
The pair sent gossips into a spin last year (07) with rumours of an alleged romance.
And though Grenier insists their relationship is purely platonic - he admits he holds the heiress in high regard because of her artful way of dealing with reporters.

PARIS HILTON is tipping her former friend BRITNEY SPEARS to win at this year's (08) MTV Video Music Awards.
Spears has secured nominations for two awards at the VMAs ceremony - Best Female and Best Pop Video categories, for her track Piece of Me.
And the socialite is convinced the Gimme More hitmaker can walk away with the gongs.
Hilton says, "I love Britney. I think she looks so beautiful right now.
"I'm really happy for her. She looks amazing and she better win the VMAs. She's the best."

Attorney Michael Goldberg has filed suit against Paris Hilton and her entertainment company, seeking millions of dollars in alleged lost profit related to a promotions contract for a 2006 film she starred in, National Lampoon’s Pledge This!

Goldberg, of Akerman Senterfitt’s Fort Lauderdale office, filed the federal suit as part of his duties in the receivership of the defunct Worldwide Entertainment Group, a former Miami Beach concert promoter accused in 2006 of bilking investors out of $300 million.

One of Worldwide’s subsidiaries, the Entertainment Group Fund, hired Hilton to promote the film for $1 million. Goldberg is now alleging that she didn't honor that contract.

In an interview Goldberg said he doesn't normally comment on litigation, but some national press accounts mistakenly reported Wednesday that he is only seeking $75,000 in the lawsuit. The complaint states the amount in controversy exceeds $75,000.

"We are seeking our lost profits, which we believe to be in the millions of dollars," Goldberg said."Reports that we were only seeking $75,000 are inaccurate."

Hilton played a sorority president seeking to boost her image at South Beach University.

“Hilton failed to attend any talk shows or telephonic or in-person interviews,” Goldberg alleges in the suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Miami.

He is pursuing the global assets of former Worldwide Entertainment mogul Jack Utsick, of Miami Beach, two years after the Securities and Exchange Commission sued him for securities fraud. The SEC said in 2006 the entire company could be a Ponzi scheme.

Worldwide Entertainment and its affiliates still have ownership interest in stadiums and concert venues worldwide.

Utsick's attorney, David Chase of Fort Lauderdale, and his client have declined public comment on the case.

A call to Hilton’s attorney was not immediately returned.

Paris Hilton says she's trying to get rid of her "airhead" image in a bid to be taken seriously by the acting and music world.

The 27-year-old hotel heiress -- who starred with BFF Nicole Richie in the 2003-2005 reality show The Simple Life -- says she's having a tough time shaking off her ditsy dumb blond image.

She explains, "I think people, from watching The Simple Life where I was playing this airhead, rich brat kind of character - years later, people still picture me like that, even though I'm completely different from that."

Paris says she hopes her new role in rock musical Repo! The Genetic Opera will help to change people's opinions.

She adds, "Just getting a role like this is huge for me because I always get offered the same role, basically playing myself.

"But this is different. I had loads of auditions to do - for singing and dancing and acting. Luckily I nailed them all."

Repo! The Genetic Opera, which also stars Anthony Head and Sarah Brightman, is due for release in November this year. -Showbiz Spy

Socialite PARIS HILTON turned down the chance to take to the stage in London's West End - because the play didn't fit in with her schedule.
The hotel heiress was recently approached to take on the role of Roxie Hart in hit musical Chicago.
But Hilton turned down the part because it meant she would have to endure a gruelling six-day week.
She says, "We did some rehearsals, but then I found out it was six days a week for a couple of months.
"I was flattered, but with my schedule, there was no way I could fit it in."

PARIS HILTON's mother has blasted presidential candidate JOHN MCCAIN for "wasting money" on an advertising campaign which mocks her daughter.
The Republican last week (01Aug08) released a TV commercial that dubs rival Barack Obama a celebrity, and likens him to Hilton and Britney Spears.
And Kathy Hilton, who with her husband Rick donated thousands of dollars to MCCain's campaign, is furious.
She tells the Huffington Post, "It is a complete waste of the money John MCCain's contributors have donated to his campaign. It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when million of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States."

Paris, 27, is being paid £50,000 an episode for Paris Hilton's New Best Friend.

The show - already a hit in America - will feature her hunting for a Londoner to become her new pal and partner in crime.

A source said: "Paris is great on TV and bosses over here have been keen to snap her up for ages.

"Fronting her own show in the UK for the first time is a big risk but producers are confident they have got a ratings hit.

"They are shelling out a fortune not just on Paris but also on production costs."

Sharon Osbourne gets paid to judge who's got talent in America � and one person who lacks it is Paris Hilton, she tells Parade magazine.

The blond heiress has "a look that a lot of younger girls liked and copied but she has no talent," said Osbourne. "The timing was right for her. A lot of younger women looked up to her. She's a very sweet, nice girl. But that's it. Then you put a full stop. It's over. So I'd say Paris is infamous."

Osbourne, 56, who now judges "America's Got Talent" and helped start the reality TV trend with her series on MTV featuring husband Ozzy and children Jack and Kelly, has words of wisdom for future stars.

"I think that the younger generation thinks all they have to do is get on TV and act a bit crazy and things will happen for them. They've got it wrong, because you need to have a talent to get really famous.

"I would say beware of what you wish for, because with everything there's a downside. You give up a lot when you do become famous."

While I am not one to bash Paris, I do have to agree with Sharon about the "getting on TV, acting crazy, and getting famous over it". That only gives you 15 seconds of fame, and Paris has been out in the lime light for 5 years now, and she is still a hot topic so I wouldn't categorize her in that.

BRITNEY SPEARS, PARIS HILTON and LINDSAY LOHAN attract and encourage the paparazzi by behaving badly, according to Los Angeles police chief WILLIAM BRATTON.
In an astonishing outburst on Thursday (31Jul08) Bratton claimed photographers have calmed down since "Britney started wearing clothes (and) Lindsay Lohan has gone gay", referring to the actress' rumoured romance with DJ Samantha Ronson.
He said in an interview with local TV station KNBC-TV, "If the ones that attract the paparazzi behave in the first place, like we expect of anybody, that solves about 90 per cent of the problem. The rest we can deal with.
"If you notice, since Britney started wearing clothes and behaving; Paris is out of town not bothering anybody anymore, thank God, and evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay, we don't seem to have much of an issue."
Bratton refused to appear at a Los Angeles City Hall meeting scheduled for the same day, attended by rocker John Mayer, to discuss ways to restrict aggressive paparazzi.
He insisted "we have sufficient laws on the books" to deal with the paparazzi.

Socialite PARIS HILTON has hit out at U.S. Republican presidential candidate JOHN MCCAIN after he used her image in a political advertisement to attack BARACK OBAMA without her authorisation.
The controversial commercial, which was aired for the first time on Wednesday (30Jul08), accuses Obama of becoming a celebrity. Images of him flash up on screen alongside Hilton and Britney Spears, while a narrator says: "He's the biggest celebrity in the world, but is he ready to lead?"
And Hilton has blasted the MCCain camp for using her image without asking for permission.
A spokesperson for the star says, "Miss Hilton was not asked, nor did she give permission for the use of her likeness in the ad and has no further comment."
Hilton's parents, Rick and Kathy Hilton, contributed a reported $4,600 (GBP2,300) to the MCCain campaign just this year (08).

U.S. presidential candidate BARACK OBAMA has hit back at a new political advertisement approved by rival JOHN MCCAIN, comparing him to BRITNEY SPEARS and PARIS HILTON.
In the TV advert, Republican presidential candidate MCCain depicts his Democratic opponent alongside pictures of the two troubled stars.
A narrator charges: "He's the biggest celebrity in the world, but is he ready to lead?"
But the political advert has infuriated Obama's team, who has responded to the promo in a newly released statement.
His campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor says: "On a day when major news organisations across the country are taking Senator MCCain to task for a steady stream of false, negative attacks, his campaign has launched yet another. Or, as some might say, 'Oops! He did it again.'"
MCCain's campaign manager Rick David explains: "What we decided to do is find the top three international celebrities in the world, and I would say from our indications, Britney and Paris came in second and third.
"It is not our campaign that is trying to make him into an international celebrity. It's his campaign... I don't know Paris Hilton and Britney Spears but they are international celebrities, so, you know, apples to apples."

Socialite PARIS HILTON has praised her boyfriend BENJI MADDEN for helping her grow up, insisting she never took responsibility for her actions before she met the rocker.
The heiress, 27, claims her relationship with the Good Charlotte star has forced her to adopt a more low-key lifestyle and tone down her wildchild ways.
She tells People.com, "I just feel like a grown-up now. I think my whole life I was kind of living as a teenager and not really taking responsibility.
"We're so in love and so happy right now and it's only been six months. I finally have a nice guy."

But Billy Connolly claims Beverly Hills heiress Paris Hilton has a "nightmare" existence that is as tough as living on a housing estate.

Connolly also revealed that he plans to return to his roots as a pub musician, alongside comedy legend Steve Martin.

Connolly said: "All backgrounds are difficult. Paris Hilton's background is difficult. You may say it is easier because she's got money, but life isn't any easier for her than it is on a housing estate.

"Her life may be more comfy than most people's, but she's been in jail and that couldn't have been comfortable. And there's all the paparazzi to deal with. It's a nightmare life."

Connolly launched his entertainment career as a folk musician in the late 1960s. He said: "I still play banjo with my pal Steve Martin. I found a wee pub in New York where they have old-time banjo and fiddle players. I want to play with them, but they're a bit better than me."

Recently, Ryan Seacrest phoned Paris Hilton to talk about the fake stories we’ve been reading.

It definitely seems that Ryan is waking up and noticing something strange. Right now, the fake stories are back in full force, so there’s no point reporting them.

You guys are completely wasting your time if you read these stories and believe them. I saw some of the comments that people made on E!’s fake stories. It’s just amazing how foolish people can be, although some of the commentators were quick to realize that PageSIX is not a reliable source.

Ryan and Paris were discussing about the sources of the fake stories. The sources are extremely important, because you will notice that almost all of these stories come from the same sources, most of the time.

Ryan was asking about the motives of these writers and what motivated them to wrote these fake stories. Here’s my answer: it’s just in their nature to come up with stories. Some of them are professional writers and have a good ability in making up lies and publishing them on the internet and in magazines. I think it’s a fascinating subject, but it’s too distracting.

If Ryan is going to keep on asking her questions based on what he heard or read without reliable sources, then we’ll never get anywhere. Most of his questions were about fake stories. At the end, they talked little about ParisBFF.
